Department Of Cardiology & Interventional Cardiology
Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that uses specialized catheter-based techniques to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease, vascular disease, structural heart disease, and congenital heart defects. Interventional cardiologists use various diagnostic tools and imaging techniques to measure cardiovascular functions such as blood pressure and blood flow in major arteries throughout the body and within the different chambers of the heart. Interventional cardiologists do not perform traditional “open” heart surgeries.
Our Interventional Cardiology department initiated the installation of SEAMAN'S Artis zee Cathlab facility with advanced functions (3rd installation in the country), and our Cardiac Team has expertise in doing FFR (to know the pressure difference before and after the stenotic lesion). The department has acquired world-class advanced equipment such as Intra Vascular Ultrasound (IVUS) (Visualization of the blood vessel wall) and Rotablator. We are pioneers and the first hospital in the state to acquire them.
